Mayo Guico (@mayodacurator) brings over three decades of experience in the music, entertainment, and media industries, with a career that began in 1992. As Operations Director, Mayo applies his deep knowledge of multi-medium creative workflows to oversee and optimize day-to-day operations, ensuring that educational programs run smoothly and align with both artistic excellence and emerging industry trends.
Mayo’s unique background as a hybrid artist, brand sculptor, and media innovator informs his leadership style. He believes that education in music and the arts should not only develop technical skill but inspire students to think beyond traditional roles—to become cultural storytellers and creative entrepreneurs.
Drawing on over 30 years of mentorship under Derek DOA Allen, producer of The DOA Playlist, and his diverse experiences as a dancer, recording artist, promoter, graphic designer, and media hybrid artist, Mayo curates an environment where curriculum, mentorship, and community engagement seamlessly integrate. He champions a philosophy that every initiative, whether a student showcase or a curriculum rollout, is an opportunity to create meaningful impact, not just output.
In a world saturated with trends and imitation, Mayo's operational vision is driven by the idea of "Doing something else." (T-Pain) He designs systems and structures that support innovation, originality, and meaningful student experiences, ensuring the school remains a dynamic hub where future music leaders are developed and empowered.
