Dmitry Gorodetsky

Dmitry was born in Minsk, Belarus, then part of the Soviet Union, and moved to the U.S. with his family at the age of 10. They settled in Massachusetts, about an hour west of Boston, a place rich in musical inspiration. Dmitry’s love for music began early, starting with drums at the age of 3. He then explored other
instruments, including piano, guitar, and trumpet, before finally settling on upright and electric bass.
By his teenage years, music became the central focus of his life, and he dedicated countless hours to practicing. Dmitry studied under local teachers and was greatly inspired by many jazz musicians from the Boston area.
At just 14 years old, Dmitry played his first professional gig, marking the beginning of his career as a bassist. He immersed himself in jazz, performing with notable musicians such as saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi and drummer Bob Gulotti, becoming a key figure in the Boston jazz scene. As he delved deeper
into his musical studies, his tastes evolved. He drew inspiration from a wide variety of genres, including the sounds of Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, hip-hop, blues, funk, soul, R&B, and pop music.
During his teenage years, Dmitry also had the opportunity to travel to Europe with a symphony orchestra, where he played double bass. His acoustic bass influences include legends like Jimmy Garrison, Charlie Haden, Ray Brown, and Sam Jones, while his electric bass influences span Pino Palladino, Anthony Jackson, Louis Johnson, James Jamerson, and Larry Graham.
Dmitry’s career has seen him perform, tour, and record with an impressive roster of artists across various genres. He has played with Charlie Puth, Usher, John Legend, Kanye West, Raphael Saadiq, Ledisi, Dionne Warwick, Lauryn Hill, Fantasia, Eric Benet, Kenny Lattimore, Wyclef Jean, Rita Ora, Nas, Christina Aguilera,
New Kids on the Block, TLC, and 50 Cent, among many others. His tours have taken him all over Europe, Africa, South America, the Middle East, the Caribbean, and across the U.S. and North America.
Dmitry has also made numerous TV appearances, including on The Jimmy Fallon Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Good Morning America, The Ellen Show, The Voice, The Today Show, and VH1, among others. Recently, he contributed to John Legend’s Grammy-winning album, Bigger Love, which won R&B Album of the Year. Over the past three years, Dmitry has been touring the world with Usher, including performances in the Vegas Residency,
Tiny Desk Concert, and the Super Bowl halftime show.
In addition to his touring schedule, Dmitry has been involved in various high-profile performances with top symphony orchestras in the U.S., including the LA Philharmonic, Indianapolis Symphony, and Charlotte Symphony. He was also a part of NBC's The Voice house band for Season 27. With his diverse background and exceptional musical talent, Dmitry continues to make an impact in both the mainstream and classical music worlds.
