David Jackson is a gifted musician and dynamic educator whose musical foundation is rooted in both faith and excellence. Born and raised in Oakland, California, David began playing drums and keyboards at an early age in his father’s church. Guided by a deep spiritual connection and a natural musical ear, he quickly developed into a versatile performer, writer, and producer with a passion for inspiring others through sound.
With over 21 years of professional experience, David has built an impressive career in Gospel, R&B, and Pop music, performing and producing alongside some of the most respected names in the industry. Before even graduating high school, David launched his professional career as a keyboardist for the Grammy Award-winning gospel duo Mary Mary, marking the beginning of a trajectory filled with world-class collaborations and creative achievements.
David’s production and performance credits span a diverse range of artists, including Judith McAllister, Jonathan McReynolds, Lalah Hathaway, Tye Tribbett, Lena Byrd-Miles, Goapele, Rickey Minor, and Jennifer Hudson. His creative talent extends beyond the stage, earning him engineering credit on PJ Morton’s Grammy-winning Gospel album, for which he received official recognition from the Recording Academy.
At DOA Academy of the Arts, David brings his industry expertise, technical knowledge, and heart for mentorship to the classroom. His instruction in keyboards, music production, songwriting, and performance is infused with the same passion, professionalism, and integrity that have defined his career. He is committed to nurturing the next generation of musicians, helping students tap into their gifts and sharpen their craft with excellence and purpose.
