Christopher L. Loftin is a distinguished bassist, educator, musical director, and recording artist with over three decades of experience at the forefront of the music industry. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education in 1992 and has since built a remarkable legacy as both a performer and mentor.
 

Since 1993, Christopher has served as a core faculty member for Berklee’s prestigious Five Week Summer Program, inspiring generations of young musicians. He currently holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Bass Department at Berklee College of Music, a role he has held since 2012. His passion for teaching extends to elite bass programs, including the Wooten/Berklee Bass Camp in Boston (2012–present) and the Wooten Woods Bass Camp in Nashville (2025), where he shares his expertise alongside some of the world’s most respected bassists.
 

Christopher’s dynamic performance career includes long-standing collaborations with some of the biggest names in the music industry. He has served as Musical Director for Brian McKnight from 2000 to 2024, and has also directed and performed with talents such as Wayne Brady and the legendary Vinx.

His recording discography includes work with Brian McKnight, Boyz II Men, Vinx, Walter Beasley, Javier Colon, Randy Jackson, and Queen Latifah. These contributions reflect his versatile playing style and ability to enhance a wide range of musical genres with depth and precision.
 

Christopher's extensive touring and performance credits include appearances with Brian McKnight, Missing Persons, Eric Krasno, ASAP Rocky, Isaiah Sharkey, Boney James, Questlove, Marc Ronson, Cory Henry, Gerald Levert, Wayne Brady, Syleena Johnson, Ledisi, Kim Burrell, Lisa Fisher, BeBe Winans, Trombone Shorty, Vinx, Lettuce, and Javier Colon. His adaptability and stage presence have made him a sought-after performer across diverse musical landscapes.
 

He has also presented clinics with renowned artists including Adam Deitch (Lettuce) and John Blackwell (Prince), where he has shared his knowledge and technique with both aspiring and professional musicians.
 

Christopher is proudly endorsed by leading gear manufacturers, including MTD Basses, Atelier Z Basses, and Warwick Amplifiers. These endorsements reflect his standing in the bass community and his dedication to quality in both sound and craftsmanship.
